Who would have thought we'd get something as niche as werewolves in hard plastic? Certainly not me :D
I bought a box of the minis as soon as they arrived at my local shop and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised.
You get five sprues of werewolves with four bodies per sprue so you end up with a 20 wolves strong pack per box:
The casts look quite good overall though I think some of the feet seem a bit stumpy and I'd have liked just a tiny bit more detail there.
The bodies all have grown a patch of tactical crotch fur but luckily none of the chiseled abs get hidden by that ;D The poses offer a nice variety from standing upright to kinda creeping about and crouching down. The loads of arms you get per sprue will combine for lots of cool poses out of the box like the classic howling at the moon and crouching down over freshly hunted prey, leaning on a skull or rock:
I'm a big fan of the face sculpts: I think they've really hit that sweet spot between human and animal without going too much in either direction. Though I personally would have liked one or two heads with more of a Paul Naschy or Hammer Horror vibe because I'm a big fan of those old movies.
The werewolves should be pretty good for converting and kitbashing, too. The Mantic Zombies have some nicely bunched up clothing around the waist and the wolves look like the torso should fit in there after a bit of cutting. You could even get rid of the zombie legs and add the wolf legs for that digitigrade look. Or maybe I should just learn to greenstuff trousers?
The werwolves scale nicely with Wargames Atlantic's own Conquistadors and the Fireforge Games Samurai (though this one has a skeleton head ;) ):
They also look really good next to their own skeletons:
Last comparison shot I have is next to some of the plastic knights by the Perry bros. They are just a tiny bit beefier than the knights and would make a fine challenge for any knight trying to prove his mettle:
I've currently packed up most of my GW stuff and don't have a shot with a Marine at the moment. The werewolves would probably look okay next to a first born Marine I guess, but they'd be dwarfed by anything Primaris.
